Preparing for your Vancouver Portrait Photo Session: Tips for Success


Here are some things to consider as you get ready:


1. Decide on Your Look


Before the session day, let’s talk through the look you want to achieve. Sending me images you love is very helpful to get us on the same page. Choose clothing that you know fits you well and makes you feel comfortable and confident. Best to avoid busy patterns (no logos, graphics etc) which can be distracting, and instead opt for solid colours or very simple patterns. Bring a few outfit options to give variety to the shoot. Accessories are awesome! They add personality and, on a practical note, give you something to play with. Hats, sunglasses, a favourite watch or statement jewelry. Scarves, extra layers (coats, sweaters), maybe a change of shoes to change up your look - there are plenty of options to add a bit of your personal style and personality to your images.


2. Get Plenty of Rest


Keep your body happy and try to get a good night's sleep before your photo session. This will help you feel refreshed and energized, which will translate into better photos.


3. Eat and Stay Hydrated


Fuel up and drink plenty of water the morning of. Hydration will keep your energy up and will make you look and feel your best.


4. Hair and Makeup


If applicable, keep hair and makeup simple, minimal and natural. Maybe don’t try any new looks for the day of the session and stick to what you know and feel comfortable with.


5. Have Fun!


During the session, relax and have fun! I’m here to guide you through the process and make you look your best. Remember, I am your personal hype squad and your biggest fan. The more relaxed and comfortable you feel, the better the photos will turn out.
